Laser Hair Removal Benefits

Laser hair removal is widely regarded as the most effective long-term solution for reducing unwanted hair. Unlike shaving or waxing, which only provide temporary results, laser treatments target the root of the problem by working directly on the hair follicle to help prevent regrowth over time. This means smoother skin, fewer ingrown hairs, and freedom from constant maintenance.

The technology we use combines powerful technology with built-in cooling for ultimate comfort. While the laser energy works beneath the skin to disable hair follicles, the surface of your skin is simultaneously cooled to minimise irritation. The result is a treatment that is both highly effective and virtually pain-free, making it one of the most comfortable ways to achieve lasting smoothness.

• Safe, easy & proven effective
• Softens & smooths your skin
• Works on all skin and hair types
• Saves you time & money by not shaving or waxing
• Frees you from ingrown hairs & razor burn

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal targets the follicle beneath the skin, where light energy is absorbed by the pigment and converted into heat to safely reduce future growth. As hair grows in cycles, several sessions are needed to catch follicles at the right stage. Over time, hair becomes finer and lighter, regrowth slows, and skin is left smoother with long-lasting results.

Laser Hair Removal vs Shaving

Shaving offers only short-term smoothness, with regrowth visible within days and common side effects such as irritation, stubble, and ingrown hairs. In contrast, laser hair removal targets the follicle itself to slow and reduce regrowth, leaving skin smoother for longer and reducing the need for constant maintenance.

Side effects Irritation, cuts, ingrown hairs Minimal discomfort, cooling technology for comfort

Your Treatment Journey

1. Consultation & Patch Test

Your journey starts with a detailed consultation and patch test to confirm your suitability and create a tailored treatment plan.

2. Course of Treatments

Sessions are carried out every few weeks, depending on the area treated. Each one is quick, precise, and requires no downtime.

3. Results & Maintenance

With each session, hair becomes finer and regrowth slows. The best results are achieved after a full course, with optional maintenance sessions to keep skin smooth long term.

How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal

Simple steps before treatment help achieve the best outcome:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning products for at least two weeks.
  • Do not wax or pluck in the weeks before treatment, as the follicle must remain intact.
  • Shave the area the day before your session.
  • Keep skin clean and product-free on the day of your appointment.

These preparations make treatment more comfortable and ensure optimal results.

PCOS & Hormonal Hair Growth

Hormonal changes, including those linked to PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), can cause excess hair growth on the face and body.

Laser hair removal helps by targeting the follicle directly, reducing both the thickness and speed of regrowth over time. In some cases, additional sessions and occasional maintenance may be needed, but many patients see a noticeable and lasting improvement that enhances comfort and confidence.

Laser Hair Removal Frequently Asked Questions

This award-winning laser hair removal treatment is safe and effective for most skin types. The staff at Light Touch Clinic are skilled professionals who undergo regular training in order to maintain the clinic’s exacting standards; delivering an effective service that fulfils patient safety and satisfaction.

The duration of sessions varies based on the specific body part being treated. For instance, treating underarms typically takes 10 minutes, half arms or lower legs may require 20 minutes, while full back and shoulders sessions may last 45 minutes. For a comprehensive full-body treatment, the duration can extend to 2 hours.

The final results will develop over time. We recommend you complete the suggested amount of treatment sessions in order to achieve your expected results. You may find that your skin feels a little sensitive for around 24 hours following the procedure. Exposure to the sun, sunbeds and other tanning procedures should be avoided for up to 7 days, post-treatment, as should extreme heat. Swimming pools should not be visited for around 48 hours and make-up and skin creams should not be used for a few days.

You’ll be asked to discontinue waxing or tweezing six weeks before a laser hair removal treatment. You’ll also be asked to avoid sun exposure and spray tans two weeks beforehand.

You will also need to have shaved the area prior to your visit. This will all be explained to you in your consultation.

Many of our patients notice a reduction in hair growth after just a few sessions. Hair will appear finer, lighter, and slower to return. For the most effective results, a full course of treatments is needed, as hair grows in cycles and only follicles in the active growth phase can be successfully targeted.

Laser hair removal is classed as long-term hair reduction rather than permanent removal. Most patients achieve a dramatic and lasting reduction in growth, though occasional top-up sessions may be needed, particularly for areas influenced by hormones.
Yes. Laser hair removal is popular with men seeking to reduce thick or coarse hair on areas such as the back, chest, shoulders, and stomach. It is also effective on smaller areas like the beard line or neck, helping to reduce irritation from shaving.

Laser hair removal can be carried out on almost any area, from larger zones such as the legs, back, and chest, to more delicate areas like the bikini line, underarms, or face. Treatment plans can be tailored to target one or multiple areas depending on your goals.
Yes. By targeting the follicle, laser hair removal prevents hair from becoming trapped beneath the skin, significantly reducing ingrown hairs and leaving skin smoother and clearer over time.
There is no downtime, and you can return to your usual routine immediately. Some patients notice mild redness or warmth in the treated area, similar to a light sunburn, which usually fades within a few hours.

Soprano Ice laser hair removal is suitable for most skin types and tones, and can even produce effective results on tanned sensitive skin. We will carry out a full assessment of your unwanted hair during a consultation, prior to treatment. This will enable one of our practitioners to recommend your suitability for this treatment and the type of results that are to be expected.

The ‘ICE’ technology that is included within the Alma Soprano ICE laser ensures any discomfort is kept to a minimum. By monitoring the temperature of the skin’s surface, it can help to ease any uncomfortable feelings and irritation to the skin.

Light Touch Clinic has an excellent reputation for delivering safe, successful results. We will talk to you about any possible side effects or risks during the pre-treatment consultation, including the chance of developing skin redness, blistering, bruising, swelling, skin discolouration and bacterial infections. The team at Light Touch Clinic is always available to discuss any concerns regarding Soprano laser hair removal, before, during or after the procedure.

The number of sessions required for laser hair removal is usually between 8 to 10, although this can vary based on individual factors. Hair colour and thickness play a big role, with darker and coarser hair typically responding faster to treatment.

Skin type also impacts the effectiveness, as those with lighter skin and darker hair tend to see better results more quickly. Also, treatment areas with finer hair, such as the face, might need more sessions compared to coarser areas like the bikini line.

Missing a session won’t affect your safety, but it may delay your overall results as not all hair follicles will have been treated at the right stage of their growth cycle. Your treatment plan can be adjusted if this happens.
Yes, shaving is not only allowed but recommended. Waxing, plucking, or threading should be avoided as they remove the follicle, making the laser less effective.

Yes. With advanced technology such as the Soprano ICE laser, treatment can be performed safely and effectively on all skin tones. This includes darker complexions, which may not have been suitable for older laser systems.
Laser hair removal is not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as hormonal changes can make the skin more sensitive. Treatment can safely resume afterwards.
No. In fact, shaving the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment is recommended. This allows the laser to target the follicle beneath the skin without surface hair interference, making treatment more comfortable and effective.
