The Science Behind Emerald Laser Fat Reduction
The Emerald Laser works through a process called photobiomodulation, a well-established area of medical science in which precise wavelengths of light stimulate cellular responses without generating heat or damaging tissue. The Emerald’s ten 532nm green laser diodes are absorbed by fat cells, resulting in temporary microscopic pores in their membranes.
This allows stored fatty acids to leak out and be processed naturally by the body’s lymphatic system, causing the cells to shrink rather than be destroyed. A comprehensive review in Lasers in Surgery and Medicine confirmed this pore-formation mechanism using electron microscopy and discovered that low-level laser therapy has the capacity for fat and cellulite reduction without significant side effects.
