Bra/Back Fat

Light Touch Clinic provides specialist non-invasive treatment for the reduction of fat deposits on the back.

About Bra/Back Fat

Back fat and bra fat usually appear as creases, bulges or rolls in the mid to lower regions of the back. This type of excess fat can be stubborn, making it more difficult to get rid of compared to other areas of the body. Both men and women can be affected by back fat at any age. Men tend to have more of an accumulation towards the lower part of the back (love handles), whereas women can have fatty pockets that poke out above and below the bra line.

Weight gain is a common cause of back fat, which can often be rectified through adopting better eating habits and increasing exercise/activity levels. Contributing factors also include age, metabolic rate, muscle mass, hormonal fluctuations and changes in lifestyle. In some cases, medical conditions such as diabetes and under-active thyroid, can be the reason excess fat occurs.

At Light Touch Clinic, we specialise in fat removal treatment to the back. Our body contouring treatments target stubborn areas of fat with incredible results. Book a consultation with one of our experts today to find out more about our bespoke fat removal treatments.

Bra/Back Fat – Frequently Asked Questions

Bra fat is the excess fat that accumulates around the back and underarm areas, often becoming more noticeable where the bra band sits. This fat can create bulges or rolls that are visible through clothing, creating an uneven or bulgy appearance.

The areas where bra fat is most noticeable, such as above and beneath the bra on your back, can be tough to get rid of, making it an issue for many people.

When the body stores excess fat, areas like the upper back and sides can accumulate deposits of fat, which can lead to bulges or rolls, especially where a bra band presses against the skin. A lack of muscle in the upper body can also contribute to the visibility of back fat, as weaker muscles may allow the skin to sag and fat to become more visible.

Genetics can also play a role, as some people are more likely to store fat in these areas due to their body type. Hormonal changes, especially changes associated with ageing, can also lead to increased fat accumulation around the back. Poor posture and poorly fitting bras may also contribute to the appearance of back fat by causing the skin to fold or pinch in unflattering ways.

It’s important to understand that losing back fat quickly is tough as fat loss is gradual, and the body is not able to spot reduce fat (lose fat in a specific area on demand through exercising that area).

To reduce back fat, you should follow a healthy, calorie-deficit diet that encourages your body to use stored fat for energy.

Eating a balanced diet rich in whole foods, such as lean proteins, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, helps support fat loss while providing the nutrients needed for muscle development.

Regular exercise, such as running, walking or cycling, can help burn overall body fat, including in the back area.

Resistance-training exercises that target the upper body, like rows, lat pull-downs, and reverse flyes, can build and tighten the muscles in the back, leading to a more sculpted appearance.

On average, noticeable fat loss can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. How quickly it takes may be influenced by how consistently you maintain a healthy, calorie deficit diet, and do regular cardiovascular and resistance-training exercises.

However, fat loss is gradual and occurs throughout the whole body, so don’t expect to see results after just a couple of weeks, as consistency is key when it comes to achieving a leaner back. More significant and lasting results generally require a longer commitment.

Get in touch with us to organise non-surgical aesthetic treatment. These non-invasive treatments are highly effective at getting rid of back fat.

At Light Touch Clinic, we offer a range of treatments to help get rid of bra/back fat. These include:

  • Coolsculpting: This treatment works by freezing fat cells which leads to their complete removal from the body, helping to target the stubborn area of fat on the back.
  • Emerald Laser Fat Removal: A body contouring treatment that works by shrinking your fat cells as opposed to destroying them. Can experience significant back fat loss after just one session.
  • Exilis Elite Contouring: Using the power of radiofrequency, this treatment helps to get rid of stubborn fat in the back region, while also tightening the skin.
  • EMS Suit: Electronically stimulated muscle contractions will use the same amount of energy as an old-fashioned workout, resulting in a fat loss that is identical to a full body workout.
