PRP Treatment Surrey

Our Weybridge-based clinic specialises in offering Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment for anti-ageing treatments that boost skin health and promotes normal skin function.

PRP Treatment in Weybridge

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment harnesses the power of your own blood for the treatment of a variety of concerns, ranging from anti-ageing to skin injuries and scars. PRP uses the unique formulation of your blood to offer completely safe, highly effective treatments with minimal side effects.

During your treatment, our PRP experts extract a small quantity of blood (similar to a blood test), before putting it in a centrifuge to extract the platelet-rich blood plasma. This plasma is then injected into the desired area of the body to boost the natural healing ability of the area, leading to a more youthful, vibrant skin appearance.

PRP is offered to adults aged 18+ following a medical consultation.

PRP Treatment in Surrey

The Benefits

PRP treatment can be used for the treatment of a long list of conditions, making it a very versatile treatment. It is also derived from your own blood, meaning there is no risk of rejection from the body.

Blood plasma is full of platelets that contain growth factors to improve the natural healing process of the skin. These are introduced directly to the affected area via injection, making PRP a minimally invasive procedure with little-to-no downtime.

• Minimally invasive
• Boosts the skin’s natural healing
• Minimal side effects
• Anti-ageing

Before & After – Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

How PRP Treatment Works

Blood Extraction

First, we extract a small tube of blood, this is a similar quantity to that of a blood test.

Centrifuge

We place the tube of blood into our PRP centrifuge which separates the plasma from the blood.

Plasma Injection

The separated plasma is drawn into a syringe and injected directly into the required area.

PRP Treatment Aftercare

Mild redness, swelling, discomfort, and/or bruising around the treated area is usual after PRP treatment. These symptoms typically subside after a few days. To promote healing and prevent irritation, keep the area clean and avoid touching or rubbing it excessively.

For the first 24 to 48 hours, avoid intense exercise, swimming, saunas, steam rooms, and excessive heat. Do not use active skincare products on the treated area (such as retinoids, acids, or vitamin C) and avoid makeup for at least 12 to 24 hours, or as advised by our clinician.

Protect the area from sun exposure and apply SPF daily. Our clinician will go over how to get in touch with the clinic if you have any questions or concerns, including what to do if you think your symptoms are getting worse instead of better.

PRP – Frequently Asked Questions

Before any treatment with Light Touch Clinic, we conduct an initial consultation to discuss the suitability of the treatment for you.

PRP is generally suitable for those who desire anti-ageing solutions and a general boost to the health of the skin.

PRP treatment is based on the use of your own blood for treatment, so there is no risk of rejection or allergic reaction. It is generally well tolerated when performed by a trained clinician, but all injectable procedures carry risks.

The initial extraction of blood is exactly the same as a blood test and may result in a small scratching sensation.

During the injection phase of treatment, we are able to offer numbing creams to ease any pain, although this should be minimal.

Post-treatment, the area may be tender for a few days; however, this is normal and will subside naturally.

PRP treatment acts to accelerate the skin’s natural healing abilities. This has been shown to restore the skin’s youthful qualities by boosting collagen and elastin production while also improving the appearance of scar tissue.

PRP is generally well tolerated, but as with any treatment involving injections, side effects can occur. Redness, swelling, discomfort, slight bruising, itching, and a tightness at the treatment site are common, temporary side effects.

Some people also experience temporary sensitivity or a mild headache, depending on the area treated. These normally improve during the first few days.

Less commonly, there may be prolonged bruising or swelling, irritation, or a flare-up of cold sores if the treatment is around the mouth in someone prone to them. Rarely, more serious complications such as infection can occur.

Contact the clinic right away if you experience growing discomfort, spreading redness or heat, discharge, fever, a new rash, or any other symptoms that feel severe or are getting worse rather than better.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience sudden swelling of your face or throat, difficulty breathing, or visual changes.

Many adults can benefit from PRP, but not everyone will be a good fit. You may be advised to delay or avoid treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection or feel unwell on the day, have certain blood or platelet disorders, severe anaemia, or a condition that affects healing or immunity.

If you take anticoagulants or antiplatelet medication, suitability will depend on your individual circumstances and will be assessed in consultation.

PRP may also be postponed if you have active inflammatory skin conditions in the treatment location, a history of problematic scarring, or if you are currently undergoing certain medical treatments.

For safety, please disclose your full medical history, allergies, and all medicines and supplements you take, including anything bought over the counter. Our clinician will confirm whether PRP is appropriate for you during your consultation.
