Small Changes That Lead To Results
Small Changes That Lead To Results

The idea of making huge lifestyle changes can be daunting but this simply isn’t necessary. Small changes that lead to lasting results are a much more sustainable way of seeing the outcome you desire. If you’re feeling stuck and don’t quite know what you should target first, the Light Touch Clinic team has compiled a list of changes that you can implement at any time of the year!

Consider Nutrition

When it comes to making small changes regarding what we put into our bodies, you’d be surprised at just how much these alterations to your diet can help you to look and feel better!

Here are our suggestions:

  • Be more mindful when you snack. You need to ask yourself whether you’re hungry or simply bored. People often reach for snacks when they have little else to do but this doesn’t necessarily align with feelings of hunger. If you feel hungry between meals, try not to open big packets of crisps. Instead, try to keep some dried fruit, nuts or lightly flavoured popcorn in the cupboard or at work.
  • Eat breakfast. It’s called the most important meal of the day for good reason! By eating breakfast, you replenish your body’s glucose supply, which boosts your energy levels and helps you to stay alert. If you struggle to find time for breakfast, keep some fruit and natural yoghurt in your fridge or prepare overnight oats or boiled eggs on a Sunday evening. Both of these options can typically be stored for up to 5 days in the fridge.
  • Plan meals in advance. This will ensure that you don’t have to go to the supermarket every single day, as this can be both time-consuming and expensive! Not to mention very tempting, especially if you shop on an empty stomach. To change things up, it’s always a good idea to consider adding seasonal fruit and veg into your meal plan. If you find a recipe that you love, make a note of it and turn to it every few weeks.

Your body will certainly thank you for these small changes!

What About Exercise?

There’s no need to dread exercising! The trick is to find things you enjoy and stick to them.

To start with, try the following ideas:

  • Get off the bus early or walk to work. This is a great suggestion for those working in offices who don’t find themselves with much time to exercise. If you drive to work, you could park a bit further away so that you get some extra steps in at the beginning and end of your day.
  • Find a form of exercise you enjoy. Not everything works for everyone and it’s important to remember that. You won’t know if you enjoy HIIT workouts more than weight lifting or cycling more than dance classes if you don’t try them. You don’t have to work out every single day but finding something you enjoy makes it much easier.
  • Enlist some help. Doing everything on your own can be tough, which is why we offer a range of services designed to help you reach your goals, such as our Dr. GoFigure! programme, which combines a host of small changes that equate to lasting results.
